Three creative souls. Three individuals with a message. Three men in tune with their instruments. Three joyfully rebellious lyricists. Three groove merchants. A trio of musicians with a great love and respect for each other and the music.
The music stems from a fusion of Maskandi and Rock'n'Roll but also elements of Roots Reggae, Funk, Blues, West & Central African music and more
.

In the tradition of artists such as Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin, The Rockskandi Kings are a band that use their inspiration to improvise in a live setting.
In the tradition of the Zulu greats Mfaz' Omnyama and Busi Mhlongo they draw on the land of their birth to tell stories drawing attention to social issues that affect South Africa and the world at large.

This is a trio of musicians confident in their ability to portray their music in a live setting and to re-interpret themselves just as the great bands of the music explosion in the 60's and 70's of the last century had no expectations of playing their songs as carbon copies of their records. They can be relied upon to interpret their own songs so that each time they play, the song gets a new breath of life.

Mixing African styles especially Maskandi with blues and Rock 'n' Roll is
the reason for the name The Rockskandi Kings. Between them they have shared stages with Nelson Mandela, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Annie Lennox, Hugh Masekela, Thomas Mapfumo, collaborated with Shakira, Johnny Clegg, Oliver Mtukudzi and performed in Europe, America and across Africa.

Currently completing their first album due for release in February 2020 and already collaborating with traditional musicians able to operate as a trio or four piece with traditional drums or as five piece with added vocalist.
