Wild and untamed youth, brought together by a force called Rock’n’Roll. Fueled by teen rebellion, and their right to be heard, in 2007, Spike van Zoest, Kit Carrera and Miss Fuzz decided to dig up the old Hague Beat sound and give it new life by drenching it with an overdose of Garage, Punk and Rock & Roll.

It’s been a whirlwind from the first show onwards, with a club tour and a range of festivals in its wake. When organist Midnight Mau joined the fold The Deaf was complete and their debut album "Toot, Whistle, Plunk, Boom!" was released shortly afterwards on their own label Speed Beat Records.
The Deaf left their distinctive mark on the Dutch music scene. They conquered festivals such as Lowlands, Parkpop, Zwarte Cross and Paaspop with their down-and-dirty live performances and powerful songs, and they also won over the international stages of SXSW (where they performed two years in a row), Germany (on the Reeperbahn festival, among others), Russia and Italy.

Together with sound soldiers Tijmen van Wageningen (The Womb) and Kasper Frenkel (Electric Monkey) the band produced and recorded their second album in a few long days and even longer nights. Recorded and mixed on analog tapes, raw as ever, with a great deal of attention for songs & sound, the album was released in 2015.

Blondie’s Clem Burke, after witnessing their SXSW show in 2010, praised them as an "Awesome band! He's a combination of Pelle Almqvist, Wilko Johnson and Pete Townshend. All rolled into one."
