MARY ANIBAL
The New Queen of Mbira

Rooted in Zimbabwe. Open to the world.
An ancient
resonance.
A voice of
her own.
The shimmer of the mbira.
The warmth of a voice.
Music that carries its roots forward.
Meet Mary Anibal
Tradition,
in the present tense.
Singer, songwriter and mbira player Mary Anibal brings Zimbabwean musical traditions into contemporary Afro-fusion.
Her debut album, Maria Wenyu (2024), and the single Bhonzo (2025) introduce an artist for whom heritage and new ideas belong together. In 2023 she won Zimbabwe’s Music Award for Best Traditional (Chinyakare/Chimurenga).
Her work reaches beyond the stage: she teaches music, advocates for women’s rights and founded the cultural platform Nyimbo zaKwatu. Performing and passing on knowledge are parts of the same commitment.

A new album ahead
Deep roots.
