THE EXPO

GRIOT worked out the cultural concept for the Africa Pavilion at the Expo 2000 and was in charge of realization, management
and artistic direction of the cultural programme. During that period the agency organised some 500 concerts, 70 workshops and 25 exhibitions in the Africa Pavilion and for the Global House - and 200 concerts outside within 6 month time. Between 10 000 to
20 000 people came each Saturday to enjoy the performances that took place on three different stages.  The Africa Pavilion was a major success: in terms of media response and reception by the audience the Africa Pavilion was always listed between rank one and three of all attractions of the Expo like independent market research prove. Griot is proud until today that we were an important part of this success and that we were able to reach this goal without the biggest budget, but with a cultural concept that simply worked well.
